What? Yogurty’s for froyo
Where? 527 Bloor st w (1 min walk from Bathurst station)
Price? $0.55/oz (don’t quote me on this, I’m not 100% sure)
The skinny: Everyone knows the whole fro-yo (or frozen yogourt) trend that’s still very much alive right now. Yogurty’s is yet another joint offering the low-cal dessert in several dozen flavours. The variety is insane!
There’s the Annex where you’ll find lots of cheap sushi spots (such as Sushi on Bloor) and Guu Sakabar (un, deux)…but also three fro-yo joints all on the same side of a few hundred-metre stretch of Bloor st w. There’s yoyo’s, then menchies, and now the newly opened Yogurty’s (@yogurtys)!
I really love the whole design scheme of this place! It’s so playful and fun! :D There are a lot of toppings too, all nicely arranged on the counter.
All the way in the back of the shop is a line of frozen yogurt and sorbet machines. You can pull the lever for single flavours or twist pairs of flavours too. 16 flavours available everyday at this location ain’t too shabby at all!
And they go from the classic flavours (ie tart, chocolate, strawberry), to rather inventive ones (ie. tiramisu, lime, pink grapefruit, ginger lemon, pomegranite). Very promising.
Even the bowls are fun and interesting to look at!! The design I realize is definitely right up my alley.
The spontaneous trip here was prompted by a rather disappointing dinner so I was just looking for a pick-me up in the form of a light dessert. The flavours I went with were strawberry, pink grapefruit, and tart pomegranate.
I really dug the clean space where the colour scheme was tied into everything!
Verdict: Around the same price as menchies, I think I prefer menchies more because of the consistency. I find that the frozen yogurt here is too soft (more like soft-serve) and melts way too quickly! The flavours are quite inventive but some were more exciting in theory than in reality…
